The Premier Keene First Friday Art Hop Set for July 6
Downtown Keene will serve as center stage for the premier Keene First Friday Art Hop event on Friday, July 6, 2018, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Keene First Friday Art Hop program will continue year-round and feature both indoor and outdoor cultural and family activities. This is a rain or shine event.
Keene First Friday Art Hop is an inclusive and diverse celebration of art spanning disciplines such as music, sculpture, dance, film, painting, photography, food, theater, circus, design, and new boundary-crossing works of art that defy easy classification. This program will give the community the opportunity to build its creative culture and provide space, networking, and other opportunities for artists and art appreciators. First Fridays also serve to boost tourism and attract young and youth-minded professionals to the main street business district.
July’s event will be centered at Railroad Square Park and the adjoining Amphitheater next to the Monadnock Food Co-op. It will also extend from the top of the business district -- just beyond Central Square -- moving throughout downtown businesses and restaurants, eventually winding down Main Street to include concurrent arts and culture presentations at our business district museums, and ending at Keene State College, home of the Redfern Arts Center and the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery.
Current First Friday partners include Machina Arts, Monadnock Buy Local, Arts Alive, The Colonial Theatre, culinary advisor Jordan Scott and local artists Craig Stockwell, Jim Murphy, and Meg Rogers. Local organizations and businesses interested in participating in the First Friday Art Hop are encouraged to contact Carolyn Sweet at 603-309-6339 or email@example.com.
