The Local Crowd (TLC) Monadnock, a locally based crowdfunding platform hosted by Monadnock Buy Local, announces its outreach efforts planned for this fall in Hinsdale, Keene, Swanzey and Winchester, NH. TLC Monadnock's Leadership Team will highlight the opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses based in each town to raise funds using this innovative crowdfunding platform.
Stay tuned for our 2018 Outreach Event Schedule!
September 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Winchester Pickle Festival in Downtown Winchester
TLC Monadnock will attend the Winchester Pickle Festival with Mark Florenz of Archway Farm. Mark successfully raised over $5,000 through TLC Monadnock's crowdfunding platform. With the funds he purchased a food truck, allowing him to sell his pasture-raised pork and other locally made products at events like the Winchester Pickle Festival. He plans to sell his own hot dogs, sausage, and something pickled (of course!).
October 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hinsdale Farmers Market in Downtown Hinsdale
The Hinsdale Farmer's Market will host TLC Monadnock during its October Festival. Come celebrate the harvest and learn more about the Hinsdale Beautification Committee and Hinsdale Police Department's efforts to bring their town together to build a stronger -- and more beautiful -- community. See how they want to use TLC Monadnock's crowdfunding platform to transform their Main Street crosswalks into safer ones. Give a great idea in Hinsdale a lift and check out their Complete Streets demo at this event. RSVP and help spread the word!
October 22 from 11am - 3pm at the Ash Hill Center for the Arts, 83 Ash Hill Road, Swanzey
TLC Monadnock will partner with the Ash Hill Center for the Arts "Fair-ly Creative Art Fair" event. Over 13 artists and artistic businesses from the Monadnock Region will demonstrate their skills and crafts. Many demos are “hands on” and visitors can experience the art themselves. Art activities include Cartooning, Bookbinding, Zentangle, Weaving, Spinning, Quilting, Music, Woodcarving, Painting and Pumpkin Carving. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the grounds. RSVP today!
CONNECT 2017: November 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 37 Roxbury Street in Keene (REGISTRATION REQUIRED; TICKETS $40)
Buy Local will inspire CONNECT 2017 event attendees to imagine a future
with a stronger regional economy, more vibrant Main Streets in every
town and a better quality of life for all. This vision will come to
life for one night as the Monadnock Local Exchange, one of ten
installations representing innovative ideas to strengthen downtowns
throughout the region.
To represent their vision, Monadnock Buy Local will give one wallet to each event attendee. Each wallet will include Monadbucks, a local currency designed to support innovation and neighbor-to-neighbor exchanges, a space to collect stock certificates from the Stock Up Locally exchange and a key to the Placemaker local rewards program.
"We will encourage CONNECT attendees to ask other event-goers to share their ideas for strengthening Main Streets throughout our region. Like an idea? Give them a Monadbuck," said Jen Risley, executive director of Monadnock Buy Local. "Attendees can share their own ideas for strengthening Main Street and collect Monadbucks, too!"
Individuals can also use their Monadbucks to buy mock shares of stock to support other event exhibitors' innovative ideas.
Installations participating in the Stock Up Locally Exchange (as of today):
TLC Monadnock's outreach efforts are funded by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation's Elting E. Morison Fund.
